Seeing a Snubbie purchase in the future.

I have posted previously about the LCR and LCRX and how I have wanted one. I have also come across the SW M442 that people seem to like. There are so many options. I was originally gravitating toward the LCRX because I like Rugers and I like the trigger on the LCRX (and the exposed hammer). I am basically just wondering what snubbies you all carry (if you carry one), what caliber and what method of carry.

I am debating on between .38 +p, .357 mag and 9mm. I am leaning more toward the 9mm and .38+p options at this point. It would basically be a BUG to my everyday carry XDS 4.0 9mm 2/TLR-4 and a gun for carry when I don't feel like wearing the XDS.

I have never shot a snubbie either so it is new territory for me (never really thought I would want one, but I am wanting to shoot revolvers lately and think it has some practical application). I guess I have to locate one and put some rounds down range.

Love my S & W model 60 it's so "special" on a Saturday night my 1st every day carrygun I owned. Put CrimsonTrace on it and it was my favorite.

Smith and Wesson 442 or 642 Airweight. Get the 'Pro' version for full moon clips as an option. Most comfortable carry I own. Disappears under almost any clothing. Wearing it right now, appendix, under a suit. Spare loaded moon clip in jacket pocket. The +P kicks pretty damn hard, but does not hurt even a girly-man like me.

My M442 has a CT 304 grip. It allows me to get my pinky on it, but carries a bit bigger than factory stocks. Nice weight and balance. Very little muzzle flip and quick on follow-ups. It's a legit carry piece in every way.

The smith and wesson 442 is an excellent CCW /pocket carry snubbie. However, it will take some getting used to. The 14lb trigger is stout and shooting it with S&D Ammo will take some serious range time to master.
Once you do get used to it though it will become your favorite snubbie carry gun.

That's true but shooting .357 in a snubbie the size of a 442 or 637 would be brutal.

I did think of doing that it woud allow more versitility, with the LCR for example I've read since the .357 is a steel frame it's heavier and that could be more uncomfortable with say ankle carry, I really don't know tho I need to find them both and do a side by side.

I carry a snubby .357 SP101 with an exposed hammer usually loaded with + P....as for an ankle gun, yeah its heavy at 25oz but the gun is built like a brick shit house. I added a hogue grip which increases the size alot but I much rather have a better grip hold than better concealability.

Trigger feels a little gritty to me, especially compared to my S&W 629-4 but nothing more use wouldn't smooth out.

My S&W 637 is definitely light and fluffy; but I was quite surprised to find out that the +P rounds were less than half the energy of the 357 magnum. I had thought a +P got you close to 357 ballistics. Maybe I should sell my 637 and get this:

Trigger on the SP 101 can be polished and with a spring kit, tuned to ones liking.

My first revolver was an S&W J-Frame (Model 649). Yes, shooting the .357 Mag out of it can be brutal but if you practice you can control it. Personally, I prefer to use .38 Special +P rounds in it for self defense.

It eats primarily .38 at the range, but I occasionally run my .357 carry load through it. During my last range session, I was ringing an 8" steel gong fairly reliably at 30 yards.

I just picked up a cheap nylon/elastic/velcro rig on either ebay or Amazon. I tried one of the higher-end DeSantis leather rigs with the lambs wool against the leg. It was WAY too bulky, and it didn't breathe. It suits me just fine for what I do with it.

I usually carry a 442. We own a few "j" frames. My wife's .357 mag mod 60 has a 3" barrel and adjustable sights. The Mod 40 has the "lemon squeezer" grip safety. My youngest daughter has claimed dibs on the Performance center 442.

This is certainly true. The recoil is so violent that shooting full house loads (buffalo bore) in the titanium j-frames actually damages the unfired cartridges. Most folk do not like to suffer through shooting 357 in an airweight j-frame.
