The trigger on my SP101 is fine, it goes bang everytime I squeeze it.
Like mentioned above, the SP is built like a tank and I have zero problem with hot 357 loads, in fact, its fun as hell to shoot.
Mine is the 3 inch barrel, the 2.5 may be different but not much.

Me too. To me that's like a thousand times sexier than a fluted cylinder. Plus the added weight lowers recoil *AND* it gives you an awesome surface to do some artistic scrollwork. I have seen non-fluted barrels with entire scenes like Grand Teton Mountains and wild buffalo etc.

I'm gonna build an Ark. I swear. This is ridiculous. When was our last day without rain - like a week ago? I am almost inclined to just go out to the range in rain/hunting gear. I'm getting cabin fever being around my wife 24x7 and you can't imagine all the cleaning she is making me do.

I use to pocket carry a Kahr PM9, I bought the Smith 642 Airweight 38+P for $399 six years ago and pocket carried it every day since then.

Only cleaned it maybe three times in six years and just cleaned it last weekend so I'm good for a couple of years on cleaning it.
Best $400 in gun money I ever spent.

I've shot 40 maybe 50 cows with it over at the dairy farm. Puts them RIGHT DOWN.
If it ever comes to using it for self defense I'm sure it will put a 200 pound person down.
I have pocket carried it for so long I don't even know it's there unless I fee my pocket to double check if I have it.

The work I do I get all kinds of crap in my pocket which some of it gets in to the pocket sleve that I use, No PROBLEM.
It shoot first time/every time.


Try carrying a semi or a revolver with this much crap getting in to the holster and see how it goes. Like I stated I only cleaned this gun about three times in six years, I trust it to shoot if the need ever arises.

My first EDC was an SP101 .357 with 2.5" barrel. It is still my first love...

Virtually identical in size and shape to the .357 version of the S&W Model 60. I added front night sight and CT laser that gives me a 3 finger grip.

It will be with me until I'm planted 6' under.

I had a older Rossi 720 - 44spl and sold it a couple of years ago. I broke down and bought another one for an occasional carry gun when I feel like I want a larger caliber carry gun for the day.
44spl makes a nice carry gun if you want extra stopping power then the average 38.

I'd look for a S&W Bodyguard Airweight for 38 Special or a Colt Detective Special...the latter you should be able to carry 38 Special +P.

i have a new glock 17 - 4th gen on lay-away with Buds Guns.
I think a stainless Ruger Single-Six 357/9mm revolver is one of the next ones. $666 new from Buds.
Or maybe a stainless Ruger 77/44mag.

How is the layway, I've heard transfers around my area are getting more expensive I'll have to look into pricing. I found a copper cylinder LCR .38+p (I think) for around 440, have to start shopping around when I nail down what I want.

Most of the local gun shops and pawn shops have a 60 day lay-away program with 20% down.
Buds guns has a 90 day law-away program with 20% down and free shipping.
Locally the transfers range from $25 to $75 for handguns and $15 to $75 on long guns plus the State of Washington "use tax" which s the same rate as the local 'Sales Tax' another way of sticking up your ass and telling you to go fuck off asshole.

But it works fine for me. there is a local pawn shop that is having a 50% off on every thing store wide may 27th, 28th and 29th.It opens at 6am each day. I will be there on the 27h at 6 am to see what guns I want and a few tools that i could use.

If I have the cash on hand I can generally get a good deal at the pawn shops with no sales tax, 30 to 40% off.
I did a $175 single bird dove release for a funeral last summer, they gave me a $125 TIP, $300 total.
I stopped at two pawn shops and a gun store, i ended up with a nice 3" S&W model 37 Airweight for $275 out the door.
I bought a S&W model 36 a few months before that at a gun show for only $385.

I'm always looking for good deals and jump on them if i can find them.


Here is my 6" 357 GP100 and my 4" 327 Federal Magnum GP100.
I think you'll like them GP. I've been offered $1,100 for the 4" 327.


I did buy a new Ruger 327 Federal Magnum Single-Seven last fall from Buds Guns,Haven shot it yet.
Revolvers are my "Nut Guns". Stainless ones are cream of the crop in my opinion.

I was just looking at ballisticsbytheinch.com to check out snub barrel muzzle energy. Found the results interesting. I added some of the graphs for 9mm, .38 special, .357 mag and .44 special. Seems that 9mm in a 2" barrel does pretty well with the lower weight bullets.

It looks like 6" would be the starting length, but who wants to carry something that big unless you open carry.


I'll stick with my 642 as my every day carry and take my chances, chances are I'll never need it. But that's not guaranteed.
