Selling registered guns out of state

I own a couple of pistols that I was looking to sell. The only problem is I don't know anyone who would want to buy them and since NY hardly ever has gun shows, it seems like opportunities to trade firearms are far and few and in between in this state. However, I spend a lot of time in Virginia each year (a state that does not require any registration or background checks for private sales). Would it be legal (from a federal standpoint) for me to sell my registered handguns at one of VAs many gun shows? If so, would I still need to have my permit amended in NY?

If you own them, with them being registered in NY on your NY permit then you need to transfer ownership through a NY FFL. The FFL will send it out to the buyers FFL.

That is the only way to get your NY permit amended to remove it from your permit.
