Sen. Steve Daines Introduces Bill Blocking Bans on Lead Tackle and Ammo​

The bill is the Protecting Access for Hunters and Anglers Act of 2025. It prohibits any ban on lead tackle or ammunition being issued by “the Secretary of the Interior, acting through the Director of the United States Fish and Wildlife Service or the Director of the Bureau of Land Management, and the Secretary of Agriculture, acting through the Chief of the Forest Service.”

Not like man hasn't used it for thousands of years...sure there are problems when ingesting it, so don't.

The claim is that it dissolves into the groundwater and can be ingested when people drink or cook. Also that animals end up eating it when they graze, eat insects/worms, or carrion that was killed with it.
If I remember correctly there were studies that showed ducks and geese were especially prone to lead ingestion back when lead shot was allowed for bird hunting over waterways. Not sure if there have been any actual studies performed that shows the level of impact on terrestrial ingestion, other than carrion from uncollected kills.

And, ultimately, banning it is used as yet another form of gun control. Making it too expensive in ammo acquisition and firearm maintenance (excessive barrel wear due to harder metals).
