Rumors are beginning to fly that a Democratic U.S. senator from New York could be a top presidential contender in 2020 -- not Hillary Clinton, but the woman who took her seat: Kirsten Gillibrand.
While she's been named as a possible Democratic contender for the White House before, Gillibrand made waves again this week for her staunch opposition to President Donald Trump's Cabinet picks.
As of Tuesday she was the only lawmaker who had voted against each one. She broke that streak when she backed South Carolina's Nikki Haley to serve as Ambassador to the United Nations.
The Hill ranked her 5th among potential Democratic candidates, coming in behind fellow senators Elizabeth Warren, of Massachusetts, and Cory Booker, of New Jersey - but ahead of Governor Andrew Cuomo.
"The only race she is interested in is her reelection to the Senate in 2018," her spokesman recently told the Washington Post.
This Democrat has come out swinging against Trump ... and it might put her in the White House
