I clearly said the "inner city", the East side is where he grew up, Box St or Box Ave, I dont remember.
I live close to Buffalo and go there often
I have many friends from the area who are not in the "bad" areas.
I do have relatives from Depew who dont dare leave their house day or night. When they bought their home 50 years ago, it was a great neighborhood where they knew everyone. Now, they dont talk to any of their neighbor's. Over the years most of the homes have been sold and now house low rent tenants that never stay long.

Even though you live only a few miles from where my friend grew up, its worlds away. Where he lived, $30,000 is about as high as homes sell for. Most go at auction for under $20,000.

Oh Ive been in there, Ive worked in there. I will avoid driving through there when I can. day times not to bad, the vampires don't really come out until the sun goes down. It is every bit of a ghetto. abandoned houses, closed stores , The West side has suffered too But some parts are still pretty decent.

As you may have guessed, my friend is black.
He went from the ghetto in Buffalo surrouned by dog fighting to now being a very capable vet tech and farmer.
He now has his pistol permit and does logging with the Amish. His life has changed 100%.
His little brother graduated high school here(one of 2 blacks in a small rural high school), and is now at the Art Institute Of Pittsburgh for culinary arts.
His mother did exactly what most in the inner city say is impossible, she got out.

My realatives are 79 and 77 years old. They even stopped doing landscaping and gardening around their house. They loved doing it and wish they still could.
Being elderly, they feel like prisoners in their home.
We have begged them to leave but uncle Roy will not leave his home where he raised 5 successful children.
