Now that that's out of the way.

Here at the end of the month (the 26th) I'm planning to surprise take the GF to the Seneca Park Zoo (shes never been to a zoo before and has always wanted to) so I'm trying to find out if they have metal detectors at the entrance or no. Rather already know if I need to keep my blaster locked in 5he safe at the hotel or if I'll be g2g

secondary question. for those who have been there is it any good. only real zoo i have been to is the Cleveland zoo which i know this isnt going to be nearly as nice as that but not much in the choice around here other than the Binghamton zoo and im sure Rochester is better

I haven't been to any of the bigger zoo's in a while. When to an event at the Utica one for the kid last Halloween. It was meh. I did enjoy the wild in Chittenango, which might be too far for you to travel.

hey thanks ill have to check that out as well in case the GF enjoys the zoo ill take her to more (she is super empathetic, one of the things i love most about her, so 1 of 2 out comes will happen by taking her to the zoo, 1 the one im hoping for she enjoys it and gets to see all the animals and we have a good time then go grab a garbage plate and head back to the hotel room and or 2 she will be super sad because all the animals are not running free and she might cry we go get garbage plats head back to the hotel room and)

Maybe not a possibility, but the Columbus Ohio zoo is awesome. The best I’ve been too.

There no detectors. The entrance is wide open. You stop at the ticket window and then breeze in. You should have no problem carrying.

Except.... It's a Monroe county park so you are not allowed to carry.

Rosamond Gifford Zoo in Syracuse is currently getting an animatronics (?) dinosaur exhibit ready, I believe it will be open May 25, through Labor Day, if you're looking for something different. ( i can't help but wonder if liberal Snowflakes will be there protesting the dinosaurs being 'penned up for exhibit'. )

I have had a membership to Seneca Park Zoo for years now. Like has been said, there are no metal detectors, but it is a Monroe County Park, so carrying is against county law. There was a push to get that changed before SAFE, but that push has been shelved permanently. With SCOPE having so much trouble, I don't see anything changing in the future.

Honestly, I'd make the trip to Syracuse or Buffalo. Both have better zoos. If you can go on a weekday, you'll avoid any crowds.

I would hit up buff but an extra hour or so drive (isnt much honestly, I mean I drove the two of us to NYC, 4 hours, watched a movie and drove home) but it will be my first weekend off since January so trying to keep everything to a minimum right now and relax. Plus garbage plate

Meh. Bull Gray's makes something that they say is a garbage plate. If you want to stick with the intent of the original, Empire Hots has one of the best in town. If you want to step up the experience a little, Empire Bar and Grill or Jeremiah's have awesome plates.

2 Ton Tony's is alright too. I prefer the Philly Cheese Steak plate from Mac's Philly Steaks though. If you're going to be near the zoo, Schaller's is decent too.

The folks at Mac's already know my name and order when they see my number pop up on the caller ID. When I worked in Brighton, the folks at Schaller's there would see me pull in the parking lot and start getting my order together. It was usually on the counter within 30 seconds of me walking through the door, no matter how long the line was.

And as County law you may not be charged with a crime but face a fine! This is the third type of no firearms allowed restriction that is often over looked. Now if your licensing officer (Judge) is notified they could take some kind of action?
