Sex trafficking has spiked during the pandemic, as kids and teens in lockdown spend much of their waking hours on social media where traffickers and pimps can easily reach them, says anti-trafficking activist Jaco Booyens.

Near the U.S.-Mexico border, traffickers are exploiting U.S. border policies and children are being “sold like cattle,” Booyens says.

Police funding cuts have compounded the crisis. Departments targeting trafficking tend to be small and highly specialized—and they’ve been the first to go in the defund the police movement, Booyens says.

I have been married and divorced twice. First wife was sexually abused . Tried to get her help but the cost was 2/3 of my take home income /week.
She said her mother and grandmother were also sexually molested . at a young age.. I have been involved with a few other women that also had been. (or I suspect had been ). . The first wife had a lot of anger issues. . Then we look at the slavery aspect of this issue and that is a whole different level.
This issue affects a lot of people for years. .. In just plain relationships.

There is a concept that what we refer to as "civilization" is just a "thin veneer" that masks the ugly reality that is the human race. There is a lot of truth in that concept in my opinion.

The worst part to me is the hypocrisy of our so called elites. They are supposed to be the best of us yet in many cases exhibit the worst aspects of humanity.

Same here. Something happened to my wife years ago and she won’t talk about it. I’ve told her if something happens to her now she just needs to tell me and it won’t end well for those who hurt her.
