Anschutz North America sent me a free hat and 100 rounds of RWS target ammo because I posted a picture of my old Anny on social media. So I'm shilling in gratitude ~ they are aspirational rifles.
They are nice rifles although I've had Marlins and 10/22s that shoot nicely too, they are all fun. The older Savage imported Anschutz sporters with the lighter Model 64 action are great traditional rifles, like the CZ only with a good trigger out of the box and IMHO a better, smoother action. You can find these for about $500 sometimes less on the gun websites. Later I treated myself to a 1712 with the better 54 action and Leupold scope and that could shoot lights out (or whatever, you know what I mean) but it was a $2000 gun I rarely used so I downgraded to another older 64 sporter. Since I bought used I've never exchanged money with the fellows up above, other than to order a replacement sight for one I messed up home gunsmithing.
I think you can easily drop $4-500o on new ones with fancy options but the same goes for a JP AR or it's just the beginning of nice clay shooting shotguns and custom 1911s.
If I just had F-U money I'd like to get a Biathalon model, those are pretty slick.
It's nice to know they have good people in the USA supporting their customers. And it's funny that all these high end precision Germanic guns are handled by rednecks in the Deeeeeep South (Steyr and Glock for instance).
