Shipping Ammo - CT to FL?

I will be making a permanent move to Fl early in 2023, but keeping a cabin upsate NY....................so still have NY connections

My rifles will be taken down over the coming weeks as we move some stuff down and will go with me on my flight (westchester to Sarasota)

My question is my ammo

It is NOT a massive amount - maybe 7 ammo cans full of 9/357/223..................but clearly heavy

I dont have the original ammo packaging (ammo is loose in the ammo cans), which I think most shippers are looking for

My car will be getting transported down (not driving that again!!)

Is there any reason why I cant put the ammo in the car, which is going to be fully loaded up with clothing, etc

I cant find any state laws (I may have missed them clearly) which prohibits that?

The vehicle shipper may not allow it I guess?

Any views?

But from a State/Federal Law perspective, any issues you are aware of?

Sell the ammo here and buy new when you get there.

Federal law says it’s fine and you should notify the shipper if there are guns. As far as I know there are no laws with shipping ammo.

Have done it several times and not that enjoyable…….1300 miles and around 20+ hours is not pleasant!

$700 to transport the car down and a couple of cheap flights from Westchester beat that every time

May just need to speak to the car shipping company to make sure they are ok with ammo (no guns)………….probably not!!

1 ... your not in the biz of selling ammo .. check ..

2 .. i received a ammo can of 330 rnd of Mosin ammo in the mail ..

wrap it and label it correctly .. ORMD .. and send it ..

3 .. i would not put anything in a auto being shipped gun related .. they have the keys to load and unload it and could take anything in it ..

He can’t since it’s not in the original cardboard boxes. It’s special cardboard to prevent explosions. I read that was an issue during the pandemic causing an ammo shortage.

300 plus rounds of this was in a 50 cal metal ammo can with other Mosin items .. oil cans and tools all wrapped and labeled and shipped to where i work ..

just have someone at the receiving end be there to accept it ..

What was the ammo wrapped in?

I don’t have the original packaging/ cardboard boxes and according the shipping requirements, that appears to be an issue

Ship UPS. Need to have this symbol on container and ship from a Customer Service Center or hub..

I would double box. If you need a box cut a cardboard box down. It's not that hard to do.

i didnt ship ... a member here did .. i was the receiver .. don't remember how he shipped it UPS or FedEx are the 2 means
