Shipping pistol to manufacturer

I want to send my Sig to the factory for the voluntary upgrade. Can I ship (FedEx or UPS) and receive
the gun directly, or do I need an FFL dealer to do this?

IIRC you must ship 2 day air or over night FedEx or ups only, and yes should be able to receive it directly back from them

Just call sig, they will set it up for you and send you a prepaid shipping label, which I beleive is FedEx. They also will send it back to your house.

I've shipped guns back to the factory for various work a few different times.
I remember at FedEx they said that you MUST inform them that the package contains a firearm. I don't know if it was a company policy or a state law.

As far as getting the gun back (even a handgun), they can ship it back directly to your door, no FFL required.

I had a gun sent back to Ruger for warranty work and they told me absolutely don’t say there is a gun in the box. I got the impression it would increase its likelihood of never being seen again

I had to send a gun back to Kimber and it wasn’t a big deal. I was worried about it too because you know, you don’t want to break the law over something stupid especially.

When I sent my pistol back to Ruger, I requested to pick it at the UPS hub as my home delivery is unreliable (boxes left at other homes, can’t find my home etc). I prefer to pick it up in this manner. The less hands having my pistol package, less chance for it to get “lost”.

The few times that I have sent guns back to the manufacturer, I have never once told the people at the Fedex drop off store what was in the box, and they didn't ask either.

Fed ex , Sposed to declare it , Even though it was broken down. At least that is what fedex said.
I'm a by the book guy with shit like this.

When I sent my Ruger back I sent from my FFL. Whe they shipped back, they requested FFL....but it was a different gun.

My Ruger went to them and came back to me. You need manufacturer shipping labels. Don't mention it's a gun.
