An interesting thought occurred to me, I know most of us aren't lawyers, but it's still fun to discuss the law.
I was thinking about making something like a Serbu Super Shorty.
Traditionally you would need to find a bare receiver that *wasn't* manufactured as a shotgun to begin with.
Because if it was ever a shotgun it would end up as an SBS on a $200 stamp not an AOW on a $5 stamp.
But if you start with a shockwave (or one of the clones) they *aren't* shotguns but others, then it seems like you could file the paperwork to AOW them for $5 and then shorten them as much as you want.
So the cheap easy way to a super shorty would be buy a shockwave, file your paperwork, then swap the grip and shorten the barrel and you're done ?
Does this sound right to you guys ?
