Interesting. It doesn't interfere with normal pistol function and does not add and additional steps before firing.
I can see some potential use for such a backplate. I always reholster with my thumb on the back of the slide, anyway, to prevent semiautomatic pistols from possibly being forced out-of-battery during reholstering. So, this backplate indicator would be inocuous to me, and even possibly useful.
One question: Does this hinged backplate act as an opening to allow foreign debris into the slide?
I like the idea of it, I just wish they had the back plate hinge towards the bottom so it looked more like a hammer coming back then the pistol trying to poop.
That's interesting. I went with the Springfield xd because of the no safety at all on the flock. I have also trained myself to to put my Springfield in my holster with just my thumb so that the grip safety is not depressed. Of course the trigger getting stuck on clothing causing a negligent discharge is my main concern. I would use it.
