He will be arrested and convicted as he should be. We can’t and should not be able to shoot a young kid for breaking a window. I did stupid shit as a kid as do you likely. 13 year old cant make the judgement call.

You are missing the point, a legal point.
Yes we should be able to shoot - a young kid, an old man, a middle aged woman - whomever we have reasonable cause to believe is burglarizing or attempting to burglarize our homes. It is about time the law in NY actually is upheld when it comes to someone legally protecting themselves and or their property.
