I've seen a couple reviews on YouTube. Looks fine. I don't think any of those scent free cleaners really do a great job. Probably fine for light use. I am also quite suspicious of all of these "military grade" products.

My favorite thing to use is Weapon Shield, but I always keep Hoppes #9 around for really deep occasional cleaning.

I mostly use Slip 2000. I had been using white lithium grease on the AK bolt carrier rails, which also works, but the Slip 2000 grease is awesome. I dab a little on the rails and use a drop of the standard slip 2000 and it works great.

or if you need to have it say gun grease and pay 10Xs ......... ...oh wait, it sez for use on autos too

I used to use Hoppes, I don’t anymore. All I use recently is Breakthrough and it has worked really well for me. Breaks down anything I’ve sprayed it on relatively easily. Works well enough for a good cleaning and if you do get it on your hands it doesn’t leave that annoying residual smell. It also doesn’t leave your hands feeling shitty with whatever chemicals are in Hoppes. I also really like that it’s completely clear, so you can see anything and everything that’s coming off while you’re cleaning.

honestky didn’t buy it because the word military was on it at all. Only because I heard it worked well, which it does.

My order came in yesterday, I picked up; solvent, lube, grease and knife oil, not that I needed it but I also picked up one of their cleaning mats. I just got done cleaning a rifle and pistol. This stuff worked great, so far I am very happy with it.

It’s pretty sweet right? Cleans really well, no annoying smell, hands aren’t all nasty.

I usually do too usually. I’ve had the smell
of some solvents make it through some gloves. Either way I have found Breakthrough works pretty well.

I'm with Robin on the Mobil1. Clean with Hoppes, then lube with Mobil1. Working on the same quart for a few years now. Use it on every firearm I own. Even airguns.

I agree, we will need a lot non petroleum based products like Vaseline, KY, etc.

So related to the subject..

I was just looking at Butch's Bore Shine at the store, but decided not to get it. Thought it was too much like Hoppe's, which already works fine.

So anyway, I ended up coming home and I'm thinking about getting J-B Bore Cleaning Compound, which is a paste, and I ordered a fresh can of Ballistol.

Looking at the JB paste, it looks like you have to use it with Kroll oil? Can anyone offer up their process if they use it? Is it too much work? Should I not even bother?

I have a new pistol I have to carry for work and I'm looking to adopt a different process, primarily using Ballistol, I guess just because it is easy and because the kings of YT, Hickok45 and @Darth use it, and I would occasionally use the JB as a deep cleaning process a few times a year. That's what I'm thinking anyway..........

Guess I'm gonna use gun scrubber to strip all product off a few pistols and Ballistol them and see what I think. If Ballistol can lube them without having that oil residue that seeps out It'll do what I want it to. We'll see I guess.

Ended up with some new products today. I stripped all oils from my pistols and all of them have Ballistol on them now. I'm liking it. They are protected without being wet. I've yet to see how well Ballistol will clean after a range trip but for now it's the product I'm using. The other cleaner if very harsh and I only used it to strip the metal of existing oils. It won't be used regularly.
