hello all. Just wondering if anyone knows where I can just go shoot outside in the woods somewhere? And also any clubs with outdoor ranges that are accepting new members? I'm in Orange County but wouldn't mind driving up to Sullivan and make a day out of it. Thanks

Jimbo you can shoot at Vernooykill off route 209 in Wawarsing. Go up route 209 north from Ellenville and turn left on Lundy Road. Go in about a mile and turn left over bridge and go about 500 feet on right. you will see a large boulder and a short trail into a field.
Does it get crowded? Maybe I'll go today

no it does not get crowed but you have to bring you own target stand.It is a field with backstops. When you walk in to your left is a dirt bank where people shoot pistol. walk a little farther in and you will see a bank at about 100 yards for rifle. There was some pallets there you could mount targets to. It is a place where the DEC allow you to shoot.

Only what you bring yourself. Remember that DEC State Forest rules prohibit using trees as targets. Your might want to invest in a inexpensive target stand.
