Right but once released for the DV, I would be one of those people to still get one for my own protection. And that other person who wouldn’t get one from the street because it’s too risky but isn’t danger now is he?Yeah but as shitty as a domestic abuser is, I’m not sure it warrants life in prison. It does mean they shouldn’t own a gun. We have NICS checks that make sure a buyer isn’t a criminal. It unfortunately doesn’t change whether they sold some weed or raped someone, and the distinction should matter, because IMO one is a crime and one isn’t. I’m not saying gun laws are the answer or that we need more legislation. I do think the background check into violent criminal activity is reasonable. There are many people who have committed violent crimes who would buy a gun from the gun store (if they could) but wouldn’t be willing to buy it off the street. There are different degrees of violent criminals.
