For decades I held a VERY high opinion of the FBI.

It was all FALSE.

The filthy corruption that has permeated this organization since, at least JFK's Assassination, is FINALLY being revealed.

Don't ask me to list it all - just pay attention in the next few weeks.

The FBI is no asset - it is a Creature of The Deep State.

It needs to DIE.

There are many agencies that I could suggest the Fed gov end. The FBI needs to be torn down just like the Gov itself. We have no idea who is bad or good. We have no idea who is a mole. One thing I do know is if you turn your head and look the other way, then you are no better than the people doing it.

I’ve always believed that the Federal government shouldn’t have any enforcement power within the borders of our country. They should only be able to issue warrants subsequently served by local law enforcement upon review and acceptance.

I voted 'no' simply because the function is needed. I DO think there needs to be a top to bottom purge of anyone whose priority is not to the Constitution. IDGAF how many years you have or rank, if you cannot uphold your oath, GTFO.

When the purge is done in DOJ, I would put State next on the list, then CIA, etc. Meanwhile the DoE and EPA can be eliminated wholesale. Education and EPA functions should be handed back to the states.

Agreed, but the investigative part is still needed. Supposedly they still have the premier crime lab throughout the country. KGB level arrest powers are not needed, and have obviously been abused.

What's to stop agents from lying? Sure maybe there is a paper trail on everyone there, but then the question becomes, who does the investigations? What agency? Is a corrupt DOJ going to be trusted to investigate themselves? The well has been poisoned and if this corruption goes as deep as I and others fear, a whole reboot of the executive branch and it's agencies will be needed. The same would go for the other branches. I don't think this corruption is limited, I think its pervasive and at the very least puts in doubt the fidelity of officials.

@ArmedCorgi , I agree that it's the old foxes guarding the henhouse problem, but I suspect if a "special counsel" style investigation potentially subjecting each and every member of the DOJ and FBI was promised, utilizing some form of lottery system so a broad spectrum of investigatory agencies were working (interagency rivalry could help here) to root out the crooks, it might deter a lot Of them from stepping away from their oath. Start with EVERY SINGLE POLITICAL APPOINTEE, and all of the SES, a.k.a. every single boss. No one under investigation has ANYONE in their direct chain of command serve in any investigatory capacity, except as a witness.

Government in general (feds, state) should be reorganized to reduce management and redundancy. Why do we need so many police agencies? Why do we need a federal EPA and a state DEC? Federal has FRA for the railroads and NY DOT dual inspects our railroads here. Some things may be better managed at the federal level, some may be managed better at the local level but in some situations we could do without both.

1990's era Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson in real life) was the source of many of my adolescent spank bank fantasies. 2018 Dana Scully isn't quite up to those same standards. However, I'll give credit where credit is due. She's aged remarkably well. Far better than her partner Fox Mulder (David Duchovney in real life) has. I guess sex addiction will do that to you.

I'll add just one more item (and sorry for derailing the thread). It's been a real shame to me that The X-Files new season has totally gone off the libtard deep end. The original series back in the '90s was very apolitical, and very mistrustful if not anti-government. Seasons 8 and 9 of the original series started moving into anti-Republican/Conservative territory a bit but not too bad. Season 10 (which was like 15 years after the original series ended) started to get all anti-Trump but did so subtlety. Season 11 (this year's series) has gone full-bore anti-Trump. Even as much to quote word-for-word his first speech when he announced his candidacy and mocking the existence of "fake news" as something only uneducated rednecks would believe in.

Truly sad that one of the touchstones of my childhood has been forever polluted for me. They even had a few pretty sweet guns during its heyday.

I wasn't going to vote but then came The Memo. While I believe it has some valid and necessary function, the FBI is too corrupted. Was it always this bad? My gut tells me we don't know the half of it.

I remember the agency was to be investigated for the misuse of those dreaded "security" letters... And they adamantly insisted they could perform their own internal audit... Fought tooth and nail until they lost. And what was found? The letters were used in malicious and arbitrary fashion, checking out neighbors, ex-girlfriends, etc. And the old, we don't want to know what you read at libraries was blown open in Connecticut where a library actually got a letter about a particular patron and despite the legal consequences, the Librarian served with the letter took it to an attorney! What was the FBI's position when I'm front of the judge?... Your honor, the FBI is not sure that "you" are authorized to be told what information we wanted, or why... The judge was astonished!... Fast forward a decade, and those powers given (taken) post 9-11 have just grown like a nasty aggressive cancer! With no checks/balances, it's apparent that any agency can become corrupt, or drunk on its own sauce!

How to fix it? Simple... Those who broke the law, must, without any remorse, be brought to justice! No retirement or firing, no political favor - "get out of jail" free cards. You broke the law, you pay!

Look my dads a local cop and the FBI does a lot of good. They have a lot of resources and have no problems helping the local cops out. They do every kidnapping case and the resources devoted to that are amazing. They have great crime scene people. They do a lot of high level business, fraud, and computer crimes. The local cops don’t have the resources to investigate these crimes.

Those that say they will find jobs elsewhere if they are worth it that does not mean the void that’s left will be filled by them. That’s does not mean that the municipalities have the funds to hire the fired FBI agents. Not all FBI agents are corrupt from the top down. Sure does something need to change yes. How about the politicians and media? They are more corrupt than the FBI. Do we just get rid of all of them too. You’ll never get rid of corruption.
