even if the police get this thing up and running, everyone should wait til the last week of January 2018 to register. slam whatever website they have up and let the electrons fall where they may.
This should be fairly easy compared to the ammo registration joke/website. I know a couple programmers that could have this fixed this inside of 72 hours.......given enough money.
I hope they make it like the Corporation application website, it takes a minimum of 3 hours to apply for a corporation on line, in New Yorkistan ....the website is an "award winning" cluster fuck. I expect every other New Yorkistan website to be just as "award winning"

They're having website development issues because they aren't only trying to link the recertification site to the DMV and the mental health sites, they're looking to have the NYSP gun database act as their source for the pistol ammo registration site. The proverbial two birds with one stone. Shit, they're getting us to voluntarily submit every handgun we own listing all calibers. How much easier of a start can they ask for. They'll be missing long guns (except those registered as NYS noncompliant) and shotguns, but they'll have handguns in the database. Huge start for their next phase of control/oppression. These waters run deep and very murky.

Do not file electronically....paper only. Mine will be sent on the last day certified mail. This jams them up but still retains proof that you did your part and filed in time.
I will not be divulging my drivers license number on the initial application. It was not necessary for me to obtain my permit and should not be for a rectification. I will likely end up yielding that information in the end, but I will drag it out as long as possible. One alternative is to get a non driver ID, and link that information. Screw them and their database.

1st off I don't see why anyone is worrying about any of this, just another "serial number on bullet" fear mongering game. With no system in place and none in the near future, and County Clerks having no idea,it's a null worry. 2nd, to the ones trying to be noncompliant and compliant but trick up the "system", they have all your serial numbers,drivers license numbers,addresses,names,what you buy,where you shop,your GPS coordinates while you drive or walk on your smartphone etc..so if you really feel you gotta do what you're told by some crammed in, made up "law" that no officials know about, then by all means do so, but know this, they know you and your guns and that means ALL your guns..you've filled out all that info and ID when you bought your rifles and shotguns too..don't be naive.

What will happen is a temporary reprieve on expiration until the NYSP has a system up and running, can anyone say Ammo Database!?!!
And if they really want it, they can defer to the issuing authority (County) to do it and forward the proceeds of the recertification "FEE" to the State, which of course the Counties will then balk and say BS, then they will all sit and negotiate a settlement on how to divvy up the pork... All at your 2nd Amendment Rights Expense!

Ultimately, I think this is what will eventually happen. They might even get a meeting with the Senate Republicans and sign another Memorandum of Understanding. Gives the RINOS a way to say "look we did something for gun owners" and gets the State off the hook for an expensive and cumbersome clusterfuck.

LOL nope, only the hand guns. I have long guns at my brother-in-laws homes and friends homes in other states, New Yorkistan has no idea what long guns I own...or don't own. All but one shotgun was purchased l-o-n-g before the 4473 came along. so, no they don't have a clue what I own

I might be paranoid, but I sold a few handguns out of state over a decade ago, had them removed from my permit...one of the things the SP want is discrepancies fixed when you re-certify, I'm sure their old database is full of holes and they really don't know what handguns everyone has, now say what if they still think I own one when i don't when I re-certify? after all this time, I have no idea who they went to... I truly believe they'll use this re-certification to deny as many permits as they can, then they get your handguns and long guns in one fell swoop.
