I went to the range to zero the new scope for for the 10/22 sporter. My brought in the American Rimfire for a bit of head-to-head.
The comparison is informal. I was shooting at the 25 yard pistol range using my rear bag as a front-rest without a rear rest. The targets were 1.5 inch bullseyes.
After sighting in with 36 grain CCI minimal HP. I shot 4 5-round groups of CCI SV from each rifle and averaged the size.
The 10/22 averaged 0.95 MOA and the American averaged 1.7 MOA. Here the green mountain barrel easily out-performs the factory barrel. Although a base,10/22 carbine is less expensive than the Go-Wild trimmed American Rimfire, the package of aftermarket upgrades does push the 10/22 past the other rifle in cost.
The Leupold VX-1 has objectively superior image quality. However, I shot both with scopes set a 4X. The Crossfire II is a great scope for the $130 price tag and faired well against the technically superior but costly Leupold.
