It depends on where you live. NRA is good for gun owners in the red states, but it comes at the expense of gun owners in the blue states.
GOA is the only NO compromise group lobbying for 2A now. But anything that pisses off the likes of chuck and nancy is a good thing , so I will continue to send the NRA the 30$ a yr.for this reason alone.
This author's point is that no compromise is a philosophical argument, and not a prescription for anything meaningful.
This is akin to perfect is the enemy of good.
The author claims he'd love to order suppressed belt fed machine guns through the mail, but that he knows it will never happen. NRA likely represents the best alternative there is.
He's making the Seinfeld argument. Seinfeld used to have a slew of awesome girl friends, but they always had one flaw, which he could not overlook. As such he was perpetually in new relationships, doomed to never find any true happiness, which has compromises.
This is also why the bulk of people here vote Republicans, even though nobody here is happy with everything republicans do.
I agree. That said, they just declined yet another gun case. Our ONLY remedy will be SCOTUS review of cases, should they choose to grant them Cert and hand down rulings that comply with the Constitution.

SCOTUS declines to take gun rights case that also challenged Whitaker appointment as acting AG

I've asked this many times! Since the Safe-Act passed in 2013 the balance of the SCOTUS was 4 Liberal Justices ( Sure to rule against any 2A case) And 4 Conservative Justices and 1 Swing vote (Kennedy) (Not really to sure of Roberts at times?) And yet people get all pissed when they don't take a case! Remember SCOTUS is the final ruling!
So who here likes those Odds! I don't! This is why we need one Conservative even now!
Once this season is complete I'll binge it all. I enjoyed the previous seasons. The books lost their way and became tedious. I gave up on the third one within 100 pages I think. Good show, with some great characters. Ramsay Bolton is one of the best assholes I've ever seen on film.
Alan Gura was very lucky, Heller could of gone the other way! And not established an individual right to bear arms! Where would we be today if he lost and the liberals ruled that the 2A was for service in a Militia?
And yes the NRA was against it, because of the make-up of the Court!
Even the most liberal SCOTUS never dared to overrule the 2A. I don't buy the theory that we could have lost more. They can't overrule the 2A, the worst they can do is ignore it, as they are doing for generations.
This guy is a dem but I am ok with him having a gun. As the law is now a 70 year old who committed a nonviolent felony at 18 can’t have a gun!For restoring gun rights to Felons.
Ignoring it is the same thing, because states like on endless laws.Even the most liberal SCOTUS never dared to overrule the 2A. I don't buy the theory that we could have lost more. They can't overrule the 2A, the worst they can do is ignore it, as they were doing for generations.
If the NRA terrifies, worries, pisses off, or otherwise gets under libtard skins or boggles their tiny minds, they're the 800 lb gorilla in the room (libtards think it has 5-6 million vehement Nazis). IMHO, it's just perception, not reality. (I am an NRA Life member, to be honest, for about over 15 years now).
That being said, if they would have focused their perceived power, and $$$$$$, on 2 places, we'd be much better off - Crazyfornia and NewYorkistan. Illinois/Chiraq and the fed level also come to mind. Cali and NYS though are the fertile ground (due to the BS level) for some of truly most ludicrous and unconstitutional laws and Marxist thought, although I have reservations about whether it is really "thought".
I can state with ABSOLUTE certainty that the NRA doesn't scare the States of California or New York in the slightest.
Can anyone with a straight face name ONE anti-gun law passed in New York that was overturned by legal efforts spearheaded by the NRA and/or the NYSRPA ?
Should any of these law have been challenged before the SCOTUS in the passed few years? With the make-up of the Court, as I asked in post #44.

Most all of my statements are derived from alcohol..Not looking for proof per se. Just interested in understanding what makes you say what you did.
I guessed that douche Peter King before I read the article lol.
A poster stated that the NRA was the 800lb Gorilla in the room because they "scare" Liberals.
I'm responding with the very FACT that NO laws that were passed were ever overturned in ANY Court (SCOTUS isn't the only Court this Country has) because of the "good works and due diligence " of the NRA and/or the NYSRPA. Not a single one. In fact, they flat out refused to support any efforts to overturn UnSafe other than a token attempt to run the case through the system, of which the last "update" given on their website was posted in October of 2015.
Here it is: October 19, 2015 Update: The 2nd Circuit Court upheld the core of the SAFE Act. Here is a copy of the decision.
The NRA and the NYSRPA is completely ineffective in EVERY aspect of 2nd Amendment support in NYS. It's as clear as day.
You do realize the challanges dont go straight to the SCOTUS they need to go up the courts. So what cases has the NRA brought to any NY court or even the Second Circuit?
The individual right to bear arms was not established until the Heller ruling.
