Side Charging AR’s

Anyone have experience with side charging AR’s?
I struggle with manipulating AR functions especially the rear charging. Probably because of the stupid Thordson stock.
I don’t want to change over the upper receiver. I did find this unit that changes it to side/rear charging

I used side chargers to make my straight pull bolt action ARs.
Still have one in .17Remington.

Bear creek slick side uppers are the best if you want a side charger.

I've seen them advertised. Pretty sure someone I knew had one and they liked it.
I've never used one or seen one in pperson.p

I have a side charger AR, mine has the bolt knob on the right side screwed directly into the bolt, yeah, it moves as the bolt moves but isn't in the way when firing. The link posted is interesting, I had never heard of them.

Side chargers are nice for clearance of low mounted scopes.

Drawbacks:

May interfere with some brass catchers.
Knob has to be removed for bolt removal / cleaning.

I made a side charger, love it. That device looks to be simple and effective for a reasonable price.
The only drawback I have had is the ejected shell hitting the knob and distorting the mouth, I'm a reloader. I wrapped the knot with electrical tape, problem solved.

I have a 22 magnum conversion kit from Bear Creek Arsenal with a side charger. No problems

I have a Bear Creek with right side handle and a Gibbz with a left handle/right eject.

I bought the side charger part.
once I get it, install it and it warms up a little I’ll test and report back.

Had one of those guys come down to my shop years ago. Very impressed with the quality and it operated very smoothly. They are very well made.
