I bought the Sig 211 last month and finally got a chance to shoot it today. I was surprised at how flat it shoots. The compensator is so effective there is very little recoil and the spent casings just seem to dribble out of the ejection port.
I used 124 grain FMJ Supervel certified select training ammo. I pretty much use that ammo for all my range sessions. At 119 dollars for 500 it is a pretty good deal. I shoot about 500 rounds a weekend, today was no different, 460 rounds of 9mm and 112 rounds of 45 sent down range.
Back to the Sig 211- at 42.5 ounces it is a little heavier than most 2011 style guns I have handled. It is 5 ounces heavier than my Para Ordnance P14-45 and Springfield Prodigy and and 4 ounces lighter than the RIA 1911 A2 TAC II.
The ergonomics: it is a beefy gun, but it feels good in the hand, better than the Prodigy and about the same as my Para/ RIA double stacks. The grip is grippy in the hand. What does that mean? The texture of the grip grabs your hand like 100 grit sandpaper, it ain't going anywhere. Overall it feels like what one would expect from a 2011 style gun. The point ability is spot on, the optic was on target when bringing the gun up from the holster.
Fit and Finish it is dull almost flat black which makes sure there will be no glare coming off the slide. The lines are smooth with no sharp edges to gouge your hands. I normally don’t like flat triggers on 1911s but I could live with this one.
Price Point at $2300 bucks it is not cheap. Thankfully it takes P320 mags so I don’t have to buy any mags for it. Would I buy another? Yes, the price makes you take a second look at your poor wallet, but the performance makes you say I would eat rice and beans for a month or two to make it happen. Sorry wallet and body, it is a new gun after all
The 30 round mag, load on Sunday and shoot all week. It felt like I would never run out of ammo.
