I have one While I have not put many rounds through it it is a well made gun in my opinion. I have shoulder issues that will require surgery is one reason I have not been shooting. The 226 and 229 are brother and sister from what I gather. Both seem to be well respected. as far as quality . Some say they are the SHTF gun of choice for many. The P229 is my favorite, especially in 357 and 40. Too bad only 9mm is available. Looks like the elite above is OOS. Spend your $750 on a 40th P226 from PSA while they still have some left.

I have an older 229 and it has always worked very nicely. You have to buy replacement pins for when you do major maintenance. You can put the old pins back in , but it's not recommended.

I bought it as a .40 S & W and readily converted it to .357 Sig.

I have an additional complete upper in 9mm I bought directly from Sig.

I have no experience with the Elite model.

Now that I'm in a 2A friendly State and will soon add a can to my 229, I'm unhappy that I'll only be able to do it in 9mm, lol...

Although .22 would keep the neighbors more happy, hahahaha
