I’m looking to possibly add a red dot to the .22 AR I just built and I saw the Burris Fast Fire III gets good reviews and is pretty cheap but I saw the sig Romeo 5 on a few sites on eBay for like $60 and thought wow that’s cheap. I’m looking for a a descent site for this gun. I do t think I want mbus sights so some sort of optic. I have a spare Luepold VX III freedom sitting around here so I may go that route as well since we love those alscopes.
Thanks for your thoughts. I’d also like to keep it small and light if possible because I want the gun to stay light.

I have one and for the price/value I'm very satisfied. It's cheap, looks cool, good visibility and sight picture and It's still holding 0 at least.

Just be careful where you buy from. The romeo 5 line isn't bad for the price, but there are also a ton of counterfeits of them out there and they are common on ebay in that $60-$70 range.

Sweet thanks. I would totally buy another for $100 it's a smoking value.

Sure it's not an aimpont or eotech but for what it is it's perfect.

IMO the Romeo 5 is much better than their MSR optic

I have a Burris Fastfire 3. I like it for what it is, but it has limited uses because it needs to be turned on and off. I have a Leupold Deltapoint that I absolutely love, mostly because of the instant on feature. When the optic is motionless for several minutes, it shuts itself off. Then when it detects motion it turns itself on again. If mounted on a defensive weapon, you really don't want to be fumbling around trying to find the tiny button to turn on your sight. If used appropriately, the Fastfire 3 is a very nice reflex sight. I'm aware that some of the Sig reflex sights have a shake awake feature, but I do not know which. The Fastfire 3 does not.

I run a Romeo 5 on one of the ARs and it's perfect. Light , Shake Awake, holds zero. I keep going back to it because of the features. I put on a Vortex Strikefire, an older EOTech, and a Burris MTAC before but the Romeo 5 is pretty much perfect for me on this carbine. One of the other ARs is an old school Colt M4gery with a Trijicon TA01NSN that's built like a tank. I've got a FastFire III on a UltiMAK for my Mini 30. Went with a Protector mount to beef it up. I like that too. The 10/22 runs a Bushnell First Strike and my CAA MCK for one of my Glock 19s now runs a Bushnell RXS100 that I took off my Beretta 92X. The PCC9 has, um, what the Hell does that have on it? Shit, gotta go look . . .
I might throw the EOTech back on the Mini 14 once I replace the battery cover that got damaged by in date Eveready Energizers that leaked all ever the place.

I have one on a new PS90. On my AR's I have mostly Aimpoints (H1, H2, Pro (2) and a couple LVPO

The Romeo is almost as nice as my H1, but the dot is a little more crisp on my H2

I read some reviews on the Romeo 5 and some were good and some weren’t. Cabelas was running a Black Friday deal on the spitfire 3x so I bought that for $249. If the kids don’t like it I’ll put that on another firearm and use the luepold scope I’m sure they like. Also I have an astigmatism and I think my one son does too.

I know you have a scope now, but in answer to your questions, I like both! The Fastfire III is small and light, under 2 ounces, a lot like a pistol red dot. Very rugged , especially with the protector mount. The Sig is probability 3x the weight but still light. Shake awake is cool but in a long gun (for me) not necessary. On a defensive pistol, a necessity yes. I also have a Vortex Strikefire that I inherited from a friend. It had a bad battery door that they replaced immediately, without question. But it's bigger, heavier, uses a less available battery . . . green/red dot looks good.

For toughness my Trijicon gets top marks, but its so old the tritium has faded. I like the BDC on it as well, out to 400m, can't see that far now. EOTech is next for ruggedness and the circle/dot is fast. Burris
MTAC has a lot going for it. Circle/dot, 4x, readily available battery, and BDC but big and heavy by comparison.

Thanks. I saw the fast fire and didn’t think it would be that light because it appeared that you mounted the pistol sight portion to another mount to attach it to the picatinny rail.
Also the cabelas sale is all week and they say my package will be here tomorrow. If I don’t like it or it’s to heavy I’ll return it. As it stands the order I placed took 20-30 minutes to go through so I placed the order twice. I’ll be making a return anyway.
