Reviews are full of a lot of useful data and information but it's up to you to read through it and know what it means for your usage of said item.Whenever I shop around for something, anything, I don't even bother with the good reviews. Those are usually full of people that haven't even used the item and give good reviews based on looks. Then there are the ones that use it once and have nothing to compare it to. The first thing I do is look to see what the good to bad review ratio is. If there are more bad than good that is a red flag. And usually the problem(s) with the item will repeat. Then I know what to look out for. I decide if it's an issue I can live with/work with. But you gotta be careful with bad reviews too. There are some people that have absolutely no ingenuity in fixing minor problems, some that have unreal expectations and some outright stupid people. I remember seeing a bad review once from a moron of a woman that claimed a small paper shredder filled up too fast. The solution there is very simple. Get a bigger shredder. I guess she felt the shredder should be able to defy the laws of physics.
Depending on the cost of the item in question is what causes me to delve deeper into reviews. If it's a 2$ whatever, that I plan to throw out in a month vs a firearm I am going to use to defend myself with. I'm going to make damn sure I know what could go wrong with said model before I shell out for something.
