Sight in distance for a 22 rifle?

Scope or irons? 100 yards is where I sight in just about everything. For my .22s I know the adjustments to make (or sight picture to hold) at 25, 50 and 75 yards.
Asking about a magnified scope only. The purpose would be general shooting, a mix of punching paper at a range to plinking in the woods. I'm looking for a general purpose sight in distance that people use and why they choose that distance.

Why 25 and not 50?
25 is about the distance where you will be shooting most small creatures. It is also the most likely distance you can use for natural point of aim. You should be able to hit anything within 25 yards just by pointing at it.

50 at the most. Beyond that the accuracy of many 22s sucks enough that you won't be hitting small game anyway I think.
Pretty sure nikon's rimfire bdc is based on a 50 yard zero.

22lr has a pretty straight trajectory but it loses steam at about 75 yards. The chart below has a 20, 25, and 30 yard zero. I would just zero at 25 yards. Most ranges you'll go to have this distance. You'll be within an inch and a half all the way from point blank to 75 yards.
Great Info @Willjr75 . 25 yds seems to to be the one. I don't expect to shooting much over 50 yd anyway. According to the chart above the difference between 25 yd and 50 yd is only -0.01" or for all practical purposes equal.

I shot my buddy's 10/22 at a 100. It was no sweat with that 25 yard zero. It was just about 5 inches low but still accurate and grouped well.

I have the Nikon Rimfire BDC and it calls for it to be zero'd at 50y. Now I just have to get to the range and do it, lol. Always loved this video with the 10/22 VLEH...
Most of my 22lr rifle shooting is at the 50 yard range at the Club, unless I shoot indoors. Sighting in a new scope I start at 25 meters and I do have a few rifles that I leave sighted at 25 meters for Appleseed Shoots for myself or as a loaner should someone need one.
