Sks id help!!!

Recently picked up a chinese sks. Nice rifle good shape, however i cant find a factory, arsenal, or import mark anywhere on this thing. Just a serial number. Its a 7 digit on the receiver and a matching 5 digit (of the last 5) on all the other parts. Doing some google research all i can really tell about it is that its an earlier chinese rifle. I also noticed it has a number 9 on the front site base. Any information is greatly appriciated.

Ok so it looks like you have 1963-1964 production Chinese type 56. ( called type 56 because the Chinese go by year of adoption, 1956 hence type 56). You have the later spike bayonet but you don’t have the stamped trigger guard and the sling swivel on the stock should be on the side and not the bottom of the rear stock. You should also still have the lightening cuts on the bolt as well as the one piece gas tube. You serial number is a late production in the 8 million range (1963) but might be a transitional gun into the 9 million range (1964) due to the spike bayonet. If it’s more 1964 production it will have the short barrel lug.

All Chinese sks’s (Type 56) are made in one factory only the norinco plant (also known as the Jianshe arensel) the only arensel markings are typically what looks like a little triangle with Chinese letters.

The aresenal mark will look something like /26\

Unfortunately the Chinese were not really big on putting identifying marks on their guns.
