So what's the deal with Marc Molinaro?

Honestly, the first name I originally heard running for NY was Larry Sharpe. I actually really like his stances generally, since I'd mostly describe myself as a libertarian, or at least a libertarian-conservative.

I also feel like Larry Sharpe running as a Libertarian will likely split the already extremely valuable Republican vote in this state. Let's be real. Cuomo won't be losing any votes to the Libertarian party. Molinaro absolutely would.

So honestly, is there any real evidence that Molinaro could win it? Sharpe doesn't have a shot in the dark, but I fear he may split the vote like I said.

If we couldn't mobilize properly for Astorino in 2014, after everything Cuomo has already done... Is there any real hope for a "red wave" in New York this November?

Absolutely. Especially if cuomo, miner, and Nixon end up on the ballot.
Molinaro has no money for what I hear, but I also heard cuomo already spent half his $$ from a political insider I know. She also said molinaro might be waiting because he’s not running against anyone in the primary. Makes sense. Make all your money count for the actual election. Hope for the best prepare for the worst.

I've seen a few Molinaro signs, nothing in my area for Sharpe. I think Nixon will peel a few votes from FUAC but it won't matter in the end.

If Trump weren't in office (and btw...I'm glad he is) Molinaro might have a chance to unseat Cuomo in the same way that Pataki unseated his father. Now, I'd say not a chance. The "Resistance" is too hell bent on pushing Dem candidates this fall.

I've heard Sharpe talk and I do like his stance on 2A issues and most other issues generally. Having said that, the Libertarian Party at this stage will simply take away votes from the Republicans, much in the same way the Green Party takes votes away from the Dems. Basically, it'll split the ticket. At this stage I think we should throw our support behind Molinaro and hope for the best, but with the realization that the odds are against us. The last go around I saw lots of Astorino signs all over the place this time of year and while I've seen a few Molinaro signs I haven't seen a lot. Does not bode all that well in my opinion. Then again, EVERYONE said that Hillary was going to trounce Trump in the world's biggest landslide and we all saw how that turned out.

On a separate note, I am seriously afraid of what will happen if a Dem gets into the Attorney General's position. They had a write-up/interview on all the Dem candidates in the Times Herald Record the other day and every single one of them went on record as saying that they support unSAFE and would prosecute vigorously anyone who violates it. Not surprising I know, but still something I fear.

Only way Molinaro wins is if Sharpe drops out, and Nixon and Miner (I think is her name) siphon off enough votes from FUAC that Molinaro wins with like 30% of the total vote.

I'm still having a hard time getting behind Molinaro. He says he for the 2nd Amendment and then picks a running mate who is solidly against the 2nd amendment which to me sends up red flags. You don't say your for 2nd Amendment and then pick a running who is against it. I don't trust NY Republicans anymore then I trust Democrats after the Republicans sold us down the river on the unSAFE Act. Sorry but that's the way I currently feel. Marc hasn't impressed me at all. Larry Sharpe at least has a plan to deal with NY's problems. He sounds more like President Trump, Marc sounds more like a politician. I currently don't know who to support - Molinaro or Sharpe.

Everybody saying that if Sharpe were to drop out and back MM.... I say it is true in the other direction. I think Sharpe has a better shot of winning over MM. He is never going to win anyone over from the other side. Someone in the middle like Sharpe can. NYC libs aren't going to vote for MM, but they will vote for someone from Queens or the actress. Everyone is pissed at FUAC, even the pleebs in his own party. I know he is pulling from both sides, I have had conversations with people on both sides.

I was with everyone else and being all in with Rob, we obviously know how that went. If everyone that said Larry Sharpe didn't have a chance, but believed in him, told 5 people about Larry and gave them real information, it will cascade into quite the movement. It already has been quite a grass root movement.

I do not want to sound unrealistic but Cuomo's victory in 2014 was not impressive, given the amount of gun owners and the margin of victory, Astorino should/could have won, if people just bothered to show up.

In 2014:
NY had nearly 10.9 million registered voters--only 32.5% voted and Astorino only lost by around 400,000 votes, we could actually pull this off if we and our neighbors get off our backsides and VOTE.

I believe that we are in this mess partly because few people vote according to their principles. I think that if the politician you voted wins but did not like or belive in wins, then you have gained nothing. I have heard Larry Sharpe and believe me I have seen just as many if not more signs for him in my town as MM, and plenty at the NY State Fair, too.
If a third party candidate does well in NY, especially a libertarian one, it can change the attitude in the nation. look how much press one little democratic socialist got as congresswoman.

Given the number of lawn signs in my area, Molinaro seems to have local support. And over the years, given what we face from the left I've basically become a Republican partisan. I will vote straight Republican even as I hold my nose. The state party is weak and can't, or won't, field candidates that have "Trump" balls. Lazio, Faso, Palidino, Golisano....wacky, lame, wishy washy, ....arg!
