You say that until your shed floor collapsesWe have one that lives under the shed. Harmless bugger (here). Watch him scamper up and down the driveway sometimes.

One?There is no such thing. They breed like NYC rats. One Sunday me and my brother in law watched a mother and 11 young coming and going under his shed.Shot the mother first and the young ones were too stupid to scatter.Got em all with a single shot 22.We have one that lives under the shed. Don't ask how I know but the sulfur smell of the gas will end up in the house, the dead rodent smell I never noticed. It's under a bay window overhang and right up against the foundation. No gas! I would light the smoke bomb which is poison and then seal off the hole with plywood or something. Is it going to smell or anything if I then just fill back in the hole?
just have to get over the dog pet part of it
If somebody offered me a taste I would definitely give it a try. I have heard they're tasty...got to remove the lymph nodes or glands, I believe that's the same with squirrels?
Now, about that bear.....
Bears are easy.......30-06.My live trap arrived late yesterday pm. I've read that canteloupe works well; carrots are certainly cheaper...I'll give em a try.

I've never had it, but I understand woodchucks are quite tasty. My property has a lot of old overgrown pasture, chucks live here. If it's green they're happy.
Once I glanced out the slider an saw a brown blob between the spindles of the deck railing. There was a woodchuck laying there looking out over the scenery. Mind you he climbed 15 steps up to get on the deck. I guess chucks can and do climb but not much.
I would try to apply some triple antibiotic ointmentThis is #15 so far this year. It bloodied it’s nose trying to force its way out of the trap.

And then drop the cage in the creek?I would try to apply some triple antibiotic ointment
Yes,you must either kill them or release on your own property. The reasoning,in part, aside from disease being that you trapped it because its a nuisance animal.I wouldnt want someone releasing a problem critter on my property.Even healthy woodchucks are problems, they breed like rats, dig holes and tunnels everywhere, thats why there are no regs about killing the bastards. My dogs are great at controlling the chuck population and they dont use traps.WTF? So as I said, I bought a trap, now I find out that it's a violation to release trapped critters off your own property? DEC says disease risk?
Now what, kill em anyway?
