Speedloaders?

I just got a Taurus 605 for my first foray into the world of revolvers and have discovered there are actually several styles of speedloaders - twist knob, push button, and slide off plus larger competition focused speedloaders. Not to mention the idea of speed strips...
For plinking and carry use, does anybody have experience with the different types of speedloaders, pros/cons, etc. ?
What about those speedloader trays? How well do they work?

I've always liked the Safariland ones. Simply push into the cylinder and the rounds pop off. It's also what I carried when revolvers were all the rage at work.....now we've got them semi plinkers!!!!!!!!

I've used both H&K and Safariland. I like them both, maybe Safariland a little more. It's kind of nice to just be able to push the speedloader into the wheelhouse and be good to go.

I not a huge fan of the H&K, the twist seems to go inter wrong direction.

5 Star are nice and I think the twist seems correct, but the rounds seem to giggle a lot and sometimes seem noisy.

Strips are tough and slow, but carry easy!

Thanks for the input. I was already leaning towards the push button safariland because the idea of twisting a knob seems to be too fine of a motor skill to handle under pressure. Now, seeing so many who like them, I'm going to give them a shot.

I've tried them all, All I have now are "SPEED STRIPES" in various calibers. I had canvas speed strip holders made up, when taken out of your pocket, no one knows what you have there.

Most conceal carry shooting these days are less then ten feet and less then three shots, so your reload is likely unnessecary to be done with the situation.

The speed strips set flat in your pocket for more comfort, which will more the likely be carried every day instead of the bulky speed loaders.

I may have to go with Speed Strips. I tried a safariland speedloader, but it won't work because it doesn't clear the grip on the Taurus 605. I'll have to do some research and see which speedloaders were specifically tested with the 605.

This is often the case with speed loaders. I like speed strips for carry. They are nice and flat. I carry speed strips that hold 6 rounds, and just leave the spot near the thumb tab empty.

The "Speed Loaders" are a waste of time & space. They are bulky like the Ruger 10/22 magazines. The average person that goes with "Speed Loaders" carry them because they were recommended by others when first allowed to in Andrew's Republic of "New Yorkistan".
For me the "Speed Stripes" carry a hell of a lot easier, They load quicker for me. I don't like the presision loading of the speed loaders. There just isn't enough room when you open up the cylinder, dump the empties, and then line up the speed loader during a conflict of interest.

Chances are you'll never need the "Slow Reload" of a revolver either way you go. But the "Speed Strips" are ten times more comfortable to carry the the "Bulky Speed Loaders" which transulates to you'll carry the speed stripes, where after a month or two you will "LEAVE THE SPEED LOADER AT HOME" because they are Soooooooo BULKY and under duress they aren't worth a "SHIT"

With Speed Strips after firing 1 or 2 rounds you can eject the spent rounds only and reload just 1 or 2 rounds from the Speed Strip to top off. You can't do that with a Speed Loader.

Also, you can carry more Speed Strips in your pocket than Speed Loaders. Speed Loaders are like carrying a rock in your pocket and have significantly more weight.

I have had the opposite experience. I can reload my full sized revolver (K-frame S&W M66-3) as fast as a magazine change with my speed safariland push feed speed loader. I can't do the same with a speed strip. I don't carry speed loaders because of bulk with my J-frame 642.

Belt carry "pouches" are available for speedstrips - lower profile than speed loaders & practice with dummy rounds makes them easier to use - both come in various calibers - don't know if you can find them cheaper than Dillon:

I use Safariland Speed Loaders (push Button) and the Safariland speed strips. Push button is simple and reliable and the rounds to not move around, I have dropped them before and they still hold tight. Speed strips are a little cumbersome and you only get a couple rounds at a time but they lay flat in a pocket so they are easy to carry concealed.

When your rounds start giggling noisily, it may be time to puts the guns away for a while...

If I'm carrying my M&P Shield 45, I carry two spare mags;
When I carry my SP101 .357, I carry speed strips;

I had been wanting to try out a speedloader for my 10 shot S&W Model 617. Finally picked one up along with a loading block and case that holds 100 rounds, as well as the Speed Beez loader itself.

Very nice, and easy to use!
