Sportsman's warehouse not selling ammo anymore?

I stop at the Sportsman's warehouse in Rochester every chance I'm even remotely close, just to see if they have anything I need. The last few months they don't even have a section in the store for ammo. Not even an empty set of shelves. They just don't have an ammo section. They had shotgun shells but very few and far between and that's it.

What's the deal? Do they not sell ammo anymore? At least Runnings still has their shelves up.

Could be that it goes out so fast at the counter that they are just using the shelf space for other merchandise?? I know that is what Dicks is doing here in Saratoga.

The one in Henrietta??...was just there late last week and they still have the shelves and some ammo available. they always have the odd balls......6,7 mm 26 nosler and some others. Unless they just did this over the weekend. there is one isle of it. Is that Isle no there anymore...the isle just after the knives and that...... some nosler and some big bore rifle always there...I just dont think they are selling it as I think the same stuff. Thursday I even got a box of 308 and 22lr?! am I missing something??? when were you there last??? Ive seen recently 5.56 and other new stuff in there....dont last long as I have been stopping almost every night after work looking for 30-30 and 380 and just to see whats there?!
Dont tell they "gave up"!!!

My SW has ammo on shelves but it’s a small section and all the odd calibers. They don’t put common ammo on shelves, they unbox it in the back onto red rolling carts then wheel the carts out to the floor and leave them. Once they are empty they wheel the carts back off the floor.

When they were unboxing on the floor too many people were just grabbing boxes off the pallet.

It seems that they list ammo online for store pickup but sadly all are “out of stock”

This was an efficient means of killing the 2A without actually killing it. Everywhere I stop now just doesn't even have it. Ever. One local place told me to "give it up."

Not for me. Was always the same thing with practicing my swing @ the driving range. I would get it perfect and tee off at the first hole and slice it every time. Same thing with live fire. I'm a relatively new shooter, still working on perfecting fundamentals. I can run dry fire drills perfect in repetition. Put live ammo in? I forget everything I practiced.

It's just different for me when my brain knows there are live rounds.

Honestly in 2021 not having ammo is a kinda poor excuse to not train.

Hell most people who are top of their level in shooting competitions are spending a significant amount of time just dry firing

Talked to one of the guys behind the counter. He said they could literally set a stopwatch and every 5 minutes ALL DAY a new guy would walk in the gun/ammo area and look at the ammo shelves and walk right out.... Rediculous!
