It took less than two weeks to add my second pistol. That reminds me, I'll have to update the other thread with pictures!
Anyway, with that amendment out of the way, I was considering submitting an amendment for the Sportsperson restriction. I got my hunter ed done (very informative btw), permit itself is incoming via DEC website and I've already set a date to get some lessons and techniques from a family member who has been hunting his entire life.
My kids have been all about hiking and I've been taking them on trails in Westchester. Turkey Mtn., Hardscrabble Wilderness Area, etc. We did see a few coyote but they left us alone despite all the small dogs running around in the area (thank goodness). Due to experiences like that and the fact that I have a target permit, I thought Sportsperson would be a good fit for my situation. I'm getting into hunting, I love fishing, I've been hiking a lot more and next step is camping - the kids are pushing hard for the last one and I'm inclined to do it since I did love doing that as a child long, long time ago.
Is it worth pursuing the amendment? I know the PLU has been doing some strange things like removing the restriction from the site and paperwork but not actually removing them from the offerings of restrictions but Sportsperson would be the most practical for me. What do you guys thing? I'm going to wait until I've had my permit for one year before submitting but I'll have plenty of material to submit to prove that I actually do the things that Sportsperson covers. It's basically $3 and time, right?
