For those of us that shoot leagues or competition you know that no matter what discipline you choose, there are gadgets that you just have to have.
I love gadgets from speed loaders for PPC – Race gun holsters etc. For Bulls eye a spotting scope. Rifle Shooting, a really good spotting scope.
So I saw the Bulls eye Target system and bought in to it. It has an outstanding app that goes with the system. The latest upgrade includes a sighing in function that tells you how many clicks to adjust your scope for zeroing. System cost $320.00 pricey but not bad for a good spotting scope. $299.99 delivered for members of NY Gun Forum.
It sits in front of the target and via its own Wi-Fi connects to the app. Two models, one goes up to 300 yards, and the other a mile.
Love the system but not practical for indoor shooting during a match. It is great however for zeroing in your .22 pistol indoors.
So then I saw the ads we all see online for these incredible zoom lenses that work on a cell phone.
Guess what I did, I purchased one.
When it arrived there was no bearing for mounting on a tripod even though the picture in the add showed the tripod mount. I contacted the company. The had me send them a picture of what I received. They apologized and sent me the correct model.
It works by fastening your smart phone to a special adapter and your phone becomes your eyeball squinting though the lenses. Then you use the zoom on your phone and seeing those little holes at 50 feet is breeze.
Here it is mounted on my gun box.
It is also pretty heavy so I really have to tighten down the mounts.
Anyway, I was prepared to use it in the upcoming season.
Then I saw another ad and I purchased this
It was smaller, lighter, and would work fine with similar clip that the phone clips to but no tripod bearing. So after giving is a try and liking the results I figured that if I could mount my phone on the mount then all my problems are solved.
SOoooooo, I went to work on Google and found this
A tripod mount for a smart phone.
It arrived today and here it is attached to my gun box.
It is small and lightweight and works pretty darn good.
Here is a picture of the picture it shows.
See the tiny white square at the top? Keep out sign on the Transfer Station across the street.
This should work very well on a 50 foot range.
No more squinting through a spotting scope.
Now all I will have to do is look left and I will be able to see my shots.
Any way, Like I said, I love gadgets. Thought this may benefit some of you that are thinking of a spotting scope alternative.
Hope you enjoyed my "Review".
