Correct. I love the .45 ACP's ballistics and hammer fired weapons that require extra gadgets on them like decockers and other crap. Plus I like the added mix of different trigger pull weights.

I originally purchased my XDS because it was not a hammer-fired compact pistol. So, this looks like a step backwards to me.

I agree I was excited about it until I saw it had a hammer and safety. I wanted a small nice triggered striker fired pistol like the xd no safety except grip safety and tabbed trigger safety. Oh well. I like the xd

That looks pretty cool. I have the regular/original XD's with FireDragon barrels (before the XDM was invented). These are really nice sidearms. Note: these aren't really Springfield Armory. They bought some company in Croatia and that's what the weapons are. Just has an SA logo nowadays.

There are plenty of lighter striker fired pistols (without the grip safety). This is a smart move to target the hammer fired fans. There are not many small light hammer fired 9mm's.

That's what my P238 and P938 are for.

The weight of my XDs is certainly a bit more than my other single-stack 9mm pistols: LC9s, Glock 43, and P938. But the XDs shoots really nicely after the Powder River spring kit upgrade (which decreased the trigger weight) and the out-of-the-box fiber optic front sight is nice. The XDs is still a lot lighter than my non-concealable RIA compact 1911 in 9mm.

(Okay...I've got my fill of single-stack 9mm pistols.)
