Finally put my hands on a Staccato last night and now I want one more so when I first found STI.
Someone talk me out of it with how awful they are.

The expense is not with it in magazine restricted states. You could buy a really nice single stack 9mm 1911 and 20 mags for what you would pay for the Staccato.
don’t get me wrong it is a really nice pistol and I have been tempted to buy one more than once.
I have looked at them but not pulled the trigger on one for a few reasons. The square trigger guard and rails means buying another holster. Spare Mags are 70-90 bucks each. The prodigy is about half the cost. Even if I had to replace all the firing components I would still be about 700 dollars lower than the Staccato. Finally I can make (and have made) my own double stack 1911s.
But I will help you spend your money, you should totally buy one today.
The LGS has a full case of Staccatos, like I said I have been tempted a few times.I was would need a new holster regardless. Hoping to find a deal on a used one.
Thinking the P model with aluminum frame and threaded barrel.
I had a chance to handle a staccato and a stealth arms platypus. I thought the platypus was nicer. Add to the fact you can order the gun exactly the way you want down to trigger pull weight and color of each individual part, plus it takes G17 mags (heck of a lot cheaper and more reliable than staccato mags) and you can pick your serial number (thinking about going with 1FUNYS) I’d recommend the platypus instead. Finally put my hands on a Staccato last night and now I want one more so when I first found STI.

Yes, one of the workers at the LGS has one, he runs it suppressed with 147 grain JHP at 950fps. Glock mags make it attractive.Have not put my hands on one yet. Can it come with a threaded barrel?
I believe so but I wasn’t looking for that option as it would transform it into a scary baby killing machine.Have not put my hands on one yet. Can it come with a threaded barrel?

The carolina forum here always has Staccatos for sale. I think they are sucked into the hype and then aren't thrilled. I've handled one. For the $$$ and the fact they run g17 mags, a Stealth Arms Platypus is a much better option. Especially if your still in NY. Easy to get standard mags if and when you leave there. I have one on order myself. Save your money.I had a chance to handle a staccato and a stealth arms platypus. I thought the platypus was nicer. This video makes me want one.
Still surprised so many LE agencies are picking this up... for specialized units I could maybe see it, but for roughly 1/4 the price you can had a Glock 17 and have commonality with other area agencies...
I have had a P model for a couple of years and it has been flawless through thousands of rounds both reloads and factory. I have yet to have a malfunction of any kind. And while I agree some guns can be had for less (Springfield Prodigy, good gun) I wouldn't trade mine for any of them it's been that good. Are their guns for less, Yup but I wanted it so I bought it, I had never even held one, LOL And yea, I agree the mags are stupid $$$, the Prodigy mags will work but they don't make a 10rd one yet. I have a buddy that has the Springfield and once he played with it awhile it has run well, he has a local FFL order him the mags and they pin them for him, I have used his mags in my gun and they worked fine.
