As a parent I would support any action by my kids sitter to protect them. My kids are only watched by family but even they don't have access to my guns. I won't criticize anyone here for where they store their weapons but I bet most people wouldn't tell their baby sitter where their guns are and how to get to them in a safe or out of one.
As for the legal aspect it's not much different than a spouse without a permit using a handgun to defend their kids. I'm sure they'll be jammed up for a while but I don't know if even this state would want to try to prosecute somebody legally protecting kids. I sure as hell wouldn't convict anybody for it.
It doesn't really matter. I don't think this has much of a chance. The assholes in Albany don't want us to be able to defend ourselves.
I especially like the part about no civil penalties. That's huge. There should already be a law that says if you're in the comission of a crime you are entitled to NO financial compensation. We all know that our lawmakers have no common sense or compassion

Better yet...what about wife/girlfriend/lover who has no permit and uses your gun,which is supposed to be secured. That person gets charged with unlawful possession on top of others.
