In 2019, the town first issued a violation notice to Banyai for building a number of structures on the property without town zoning approval. In March 2021, the Environmental Court ordered Banyai to end any firearms training at the center and remove un-permitted structures.

This psycho built structures without a permit, in zoning violation, set up a gun range without permission, not for himself , which might have flown, but to fleece more idiots who did not want to go to the other gun established gun ranges..... why?----- Tannerite, IED's, Vt is a machine gun state but were illegal machine guns used there?
Now his actions have caused an illegal unconstitutional law to be passed, that will cost thousands to fight and likely no one likes this guy who is obviously a SOVEREIGN CITIZEN........and Vt is now fucked and so is he. Fed Charges likely.

The only place in the Adirondacks that rivals Saranac Lake in the “chock full of assclowns, fucktards, and bros who call each other Buck” is Tupper Lake. The rest of the areas are truly much more gooder. I mean - wait, The Adirondacks SUCK! NO ROOM! Terrible place, horrible stench, awful scenery, very bad all around. Please avoid.
Adirondack property is beyond extremely expensive, and it is hard for the low paid workers and servants to find affordable housing. It is like NYC during the warm season as the out of towners own most everything of value.
The highways are clogged with 46'ers and hikers, in Prius's of all stripes from Jersey and NYC.
Private hunting tracts abound along with logging land private hunting easements. There are places to hunt in the Adirondack on State lands, like near N and S lakes and the Moose River Plains, but many acres are off limits.

What was missed on this story is that the owner was granted a permit that was later repealed when his neighbors complained. That's what this is really all about, the Karens next door.

I'd say there is more than a little difference between the mob and local government. I concede they are not entirely different.
I'll admit property tax rates in this state are too high and government high handed-ness can get out of control very quickly. I also think local and state government should be much smaller than we have now. However - on the assumption that even 'right sized' levels of government could be created they have to be funded somehow. Property taxes seem to be a legitimate way.

Yes, they do have a court system. In the 1920s Capone era, it's arguable that the mob court system was less corrupt than the government one.
Today, it's hit and miss.
As for raising funds, for the entire first era of our countries existence the federal government survived entirely on excise taxes.
Virtually everything should be paid for via fees and not taxes.
Most of what can't be paid via fees probably shouldn't be a government function at all.

Call them fees or taxes failure to pay will ultimately end with the government exerting force to obtain the funds. From that perspective there is no difference.
Capone had a court system? I never heard that one. I'll assume it's true. My sense is failure to pay protection to Capone was enforced much quicker and more violently than the legal court system even if it was corrupt.
