Statement by Sen. Amedore on SAFE PP recertification

This popped up on the nysenate.gov site this morning.

STATEMENT FROM SENATOR GEORGE AMEDORE

I suggest everyone here contact all of our lawmakers and representatives today to voice our support; while the iron is hot as it were.

Issuing and maintaining pistol permits has always been a function of County government. This new process removes local control, and adds a burdensome level of duplication that could further infringe on the rights of gun owners. Until the questions that have been raised are addressed, we need to stop the recertification process.

With each measure of the SAFE Act that comes into effect, it becomes more and more clear that this bill was passed out of political expediency by a Governor who used his own political agenda to make criminals out of law abiding New Yorkers. I continue to cosponsor legislation to repeal the SAFE act and call on my colleagues in the Legislature to finally get rid of this bad policy.

me too... im literally on the border and my address is a putnum address (should have applied for my ccw in putnum with my putnum mailing address in hind sight).

but i gotta let my boys finish school first.. so thats at least 11 more years.

Only way to nullify a law, and unjust, unconstitutional law, is to not voluntarily participate in its compliance!

So, numbers are numbers, but let's assume some 3-4 million handguns in NY State. Ok, 20-25% re-register... Does anyone here actually think the NYSP would know what to do with the other 3,000,000? Think the courts could handle the load? What if all refused any deals and demand trial! Yeah... There's ways to break, or is it brake the system!
