RATHBONE, N.Y. (WENY) -- Steuben Co. Sheriff's Deputies responded to a complaint in the Town of Rathbone on October 3rd, 2023, reporting two people allegedly impersonating members of the Sheriff's Department. According to a resident, the impersonators showed to their home in an attempt to seize their weapons.
The individuals reportedly left the premises after a short conversation. They are described as operating a dark blue colored van with sliding doors, with a white star on the passenger side door.
The resident of the home visited by the individuals described the clothes worn by the perpetrators as gray in color with black stripes on the trousers, along with fabric chest badges on the uniforms tops. In addition, police say they were wearing blue colored ball caps, each with a gold star emblem.
The first individual is described as a white, male standing 5'9" with blue-eyes and having a stocky build with a red-haired goatee. The second person was described as black, male, and tall.
