Stock G19 mags (or similar) with 10-15 blocks

Ok so I know that if you have a pinned mag, say like an AR or AK mag its g2g, or people even have ordered handguns online they show up with super extra illegal for new York mags and the gun shop will just add a pin in them.

My question is say one was to stop over to PA and snag up a stock Glock mag (or what ever) and add one of the 10-15 mag limiters in it but no epoxy or whatever is that still legal

Or does the penal law state it has to be a permanent modification?

The only place in the entire SAFE act that says permanent is in regard to magazine capacity.

So, if you trust that the law will be enforced as written, your detachable mags or adjustable stock need only be rendered immediately non-functional. But your mags need to be permanently neutered.

Of course IANAL, but I'm not sure how much more information a real lawyer could provide about the way the SAFE act might be enforced, since they seem to make it up as they go along anyway.

Bottom line, your factory 10 round mag for your G26 might be illegal, since you can just buy a +2 baseplate, or maybe you can just stick a couple of your kids Legos under the follower of your factory 15 rounder for your G19 and be GTG, the world may never know.

This state sucks.


On that note, does the AR mag lock button/nut have to be filled with epoxy or not? I'm genuinely curious and I can't seem to find a solid answer one way or the other.

I think the state police made a statement that it needs to be epoxied, but it doesn't mention anywhere in the law that it needs to be.

right but as similar to the prior comment. so its epoxied to the base plate ok cool but the base plate is easy to remove and put on a regular one.

i know in the case of Glock the magazine bodies are slightly different between the standard capacity and the restricted ones

Yeah, it's a real shame that the laws have to be like this when in plenty of States you just go to the store and buy standard-capacity stuff. It's beyond frustrating really.

Best thing you can do if you want to stay out of trouble while transporting is try to make it as compliant as possible if you had to demonstrate on the side of the road. Short of that kind of is what it is. It's unreasonable to expect the average citizen to have to hire a lawyer to interpret a law.

The question I ask myself with this stuff is "is it worth loosing my permit?" To me the answer is no I dont want take any chances with it.

If your worried about the capacity dont break the law instead practice mag changes and and your shooting skills.

The point is, how do you even know what the law *is* in this state.

Kinda hard to avoid breaking it when nobody knows what it means.

Are you *sure* that factory 10 round mag you carry is really *permanently* 10 rounds ? I bet there is a +2 available that just snaps on it.

Your 100% on the money with the clarity of the laws. So FUAC.

That said I would be willing to bet the house that a factory 10 round Glock 19 mag would not become a legal problem. But a 15 round mag with a non epoxied bock in it im not so confident.

Your correct there are all sorts of accessories that can be added or modifications that make to something legal to make it illegal.

One FFL that I've dealt with will pin naughty mags to 10 and will then rivet and epoxy the base plate. I believe he charges $1o ea for the service.
I've seen pictures of mags with grinder marks on the side. Possibly from smoothing out a weld.
I was at another FFL and he was transferring a pistol with two Free State magazines that had plastic limiters in them. The base plates were not riveted nor did I see evidence of epoxy.
Are they both right?

Is a rivet in a witness hole adequate? Does a glob of epoxy make it better?


What is deemed " permanent" ....I can take a lot of shit apart and / or modify things with some of the tools in the shop.

Does anybody really know what time it is? Does anybody care?

I got to wonder why anyone would go out of there way to get a a mag that needs to be pinned. Cheaper and easier to get a legal worth the same capacity in the end.

Or if you want a Canik TP9SFX ( 20 rd mags).Not all manufacturers/ distributors offer limited magazine packages.

Or if you find a deal online.

and 10 rounders are not cheaper and they are less common for some brands/models.

Who the fuck handed the NYSP the authority to decide laws? If it isn't stated in that fucked up SAFE act bullshit law, then who the fuck are the NYSP to decided it has to happen!! :banghead::banghead:

I said the exact same thing when I first heard that. State Police do not write the law nor or they supposed to attach their own meaning to it. They simply enforce the actual law. The fact that anybody gave them Credence and authority to do such as insane.
