There are a lot of ways that our rights are being trampled, I just don't see this as one of them.
It's a minor inconvenience that the store has every right *to ask* (they can't demand compliance, but they can ask, and that's all they are doing).
So, either deal with their annoying quirk, or shop elsewhere.
If it's annoying enough to enough people they will stop. If not (or their competitors have more annoying quirks) it won't.
I'm not going to worry about it, and I'm certainly not going to take my annoyance out on the poor greeter.
Call up corporate to complain if you want to make a difference, but being rude to the greeter accomplishes nothing.
