Storing Firearm & Ammunition in safe

I’m in Westchester County, & do we need 2 Safe to store Pistols & Ammunition or just one safe to store both.
I only own 4 pistols at the moment & no rifle or shotguns. What kind I safe would I need to get just for my pistols and my ammunition.

It’s great to store ammo in the safe. Makes it heavier and harder to steal. I stack the bottom of my own safe with 10 kilo gold bars to keep it in place.

Anything I might need to grab in a hurry isn't in the safe at all.

If I'm down to grabbing my Serbu, or the old Arisaka my father in law brought back from WWII things have gone *very* sideways.

I’ve got kids so they are in the safe for now. Soon enough they won’t be. I have two in my bedroom easy to access.

If you lock up you guns, do you lock up your knives, saws, drills, chemicals, etc.. too ?

That’s a good practice if your living situation permits it eg no toddlers and the like present in your home. This is known as “ staging “ .

I prefer to have my living area arranged around the vault. Kind of tricky keeping the humidity from the shower and cook stove away from the guns.

That humidity is going to be terrible for it.

Honestly, my gun safes are mostly left overs from NY, and were mostly for humidity control.

Thinking of just putting in a slat wall setup out here.

I don't keep guns all over the place though.

I have one by the bed, the wife keeps one in her nightstand as well. But if I'm out of the bedroom there's usually one on my person, so I guess you could say there's one in whatever room I'm in

I left 7 yrs and 3 months ago Don't miss it at all except Deer and turkey hunting, my gun shop cudtomers and having 5 trap shooting clubs within 9 miles of my shop..
