F/S Straight pull upper

Stag 24" heavy barrel 1/8 twist, straight pull upper complete (not sure of brand).
Got it on a rifle for the lower. Have a 556 bolt gun so no need for this. Clean bore. Not sure of round count but can't be much if any.

Am I correct in that there is no gas system on this upper?

Do you know if the gas block is permanently affixed or can it be removed without any damage to the barrel?

It looks like a regular gas block with the set screws on the bottom. Probably just not set where the holes line up.
