Topics covered include: carbine selection & setup, stance, zeroing sights*, sight alignment and trigger control, field stripping & maintenance. Other subject matter that is covered includes reloads, presentation, transition to handgun, strong side & weak side shooting, shooting positions, use of cover, & introduction to different skill drills including dry fire and bullseye shooting. Malfunction drills, timed fire drills, shooting on the move, moving targets, team movement drills, stress courses and more.
Physical requirements: For all tactical classes, students must be able to run short distances & be capable of standing for long periods.
REQUIREMENTS:
Carbine: Serviceable duty grade carbine in .223/5.56, 7.62x39, 9mm, .40 S&W or .45 ACP.
The class is geared towards the AR-15 / M-4 carbine, but other proven platforms are acceptable - Serviceable sling (tactical type preferred.)
Minimum of 5 serviceable carbine magazines
Optics – (Optional, but highly suggested)
Weapon mounted flashlight (if a night shoot is part of the class)
Minimum 1 carbine magazine pouch or method to carry at least two spares magazine(s)
AMMUNITION REQUIRED: 800 rounds
10 Dummy Rounds
Eye and ear protection (electronic hearing protection is preferred)
Suitable range wear depending on the season
Weapon cleaning & lubrication supplies
Good attitude
OPTIONAL GEAR:
Duty style semi-automatic pistol (minimum 9mm caliber)
100 rounds of pistol ammunition
1 spare magazine & a seviceable holster - NO crossdraw, shoulder, ankle or Blackhawk Serpa holsters - I WILL ALLOW SERPA HOLSTERS ONLY IF YOU ARE AN ARMED PROFESSIONAL & IT IS YOUR ISSUED DUTY HOLSTER
ZEROED WEAPONS 100-yard carbine preferred, but others are acceptable if you have a good reason why and understand it.
