Stubborn Front Sight

Just bring it to the cerakoter and let them get it off. Got my Glock 48 cerakoted and they swapped out the original sights with Ameriglos I had, and still only charged me the $60 for cerakoting. They said the sights had to come off anyway so that's how they do it.

Just a wild ass guess here but before you beat on to much flip it over and look on the inside of the slide for a blind pin or set screw, I know it's a long shot but you never know. After that try heat, somewhere between a propane torch and a plasma cutter should work. Also out from the left and in from the right, but I doubt it has a tapered dove tail.

Yeah. I checked for a screw already. Definitely no screw holding it on. The inside of the slide is completely solid. Me and my friend are going to try the Kroil penetrating oil too. He ordered it, waiting for it to come in.

Alrighty ladies and gentlemen, figured I’d just throw this up real quick and update this post in case anyone was interested at all. I was finally able to get the front sight off. The front sight in fact was rusted onto the slide. I had to heat the front sight up with a Mini-Ductor Venom until it was starting to turn cherry red to be able to get it off with a punch and hammer.

The slide is being Cerakoted Burnt Bronze. It’s actually being done as we speak.

A little update with the Sig X Five slide installed on the frame. Also put a Vortex Viper on a Outer Impact adapter plate. My friend decided to leave the front sight off for now. If he wants to install it, he can always throw it on later.
