Same method, but I use a small diameter punch.When that happens to me, I leave the die in the press and unscrew the decapper pin and remove it, then I drop a brass rod down in and tap with a hammer. I don't remember where I got them but I have several brass rods ranging from a bit smaller than 1/4" up to 1 1/2". Some of the handiest stuff to have around!
I'll have to try your approach next time. My method did not involve a "tap".....lolMy first attempt was trying a punch. I tap, tap, tapped away at it and it didn't budge a .001 so I figured I may actually be swelling the case base by doing that and moved on to plan B. Pain in the ass but it worked slick as shit!
