Stupid question its ok to leave CLP residue on gun right?

I never seen white label stuff. I only see black label on the shelves. I will stick to what I always used, unless it is discontinued. They did change their formula a few times even with black label. I heard about gum up claims, but never experienced it.

The white label has replaced the black label, so yes, it has been discontinued. I'm not sure when PTFE was taken out. The formula has changed a couple times from what I know, and for a while it didn't meet Mil-Spec. It now does.

I also like the hoppes spray oil you can get a real fine mist on stuff.

Just be aware Hoppes oil is nothing but mineral oil. Not really very good. I certainly wouldn’t use it. Its lubricating and corrosion properties are poor. It can also varnish over time.

I think as long as you clean and relube the gun once or twice a year, it doesn't matter what you use.

In a situation like above, dropping in snow, getting caught in the rain, or similar, anything that displaces the water will help.

If I clean a gun in the ultrasonic cleaner, I'll hose it off with WD40, blow it off with compressed air, then lube like normal. I've never seen anything bad result from doing that - no crud, no varnish, no buildup.

BreakFree is a polymerized synthetic and will not gel up. It also contains advanced boundary film additives as well as rust inhibitors. It contains no wax based substances. Ballistol is an inferior product consisting of mostly mineral oil and alcohol. I wouldn't use it on anything I own. It is an ok cleaner but poor lubricant. Also smells like a skunk's nut sack.

I use break free . My info comes from collectors . Thank you for the correction if I was wrong. I do know that Ballistol is their “go to”. Probably because it’s time tested .
