Stupid Question regarding Amendment Time

As I am new to the whole CCW world, can someone explain amendment time to me. Is it when you want to add a pistol to your license? Are counties vastly different in how this is handled. When I got my permit I went and bought a couple of pistols shortly after receiving it. In Oswego County I just brought the paperwork for the sale to the clerks office and they listed them on a separate card and gave the paperwork to go back to the store and pick them up. Is it different in other counties?

Yes, it varies to from county to county.

Some allow you to carry a coupon with you so you can go to the store, buy a gun and walk out with it. Then you go an add it to your permit later.

Other counties take months for a judge to approve and give you your coupon and amended permit before you can go pick up your gun.

Every county has their own system. In Monroe it is the same as you described. Purchaae the pistol, FFL gives paperwork to take to the clerk, the clerk adds it to permit, then back to the FFL for 4473 and NICS. Pray not to get a delay.

I got jazzed for a late trip to the PPO,to delist a Browing Hi Power, I had sold thru Franks Guns in Marcy NY on consignment. I waited a month or so...................BAD JUJU.

You cannot pick up a pistol from an FFL in NYS, without the chit the PPO gives you, for the FFL.

Gotta a gun already, that you want to put on the permit, that you got from "someone"?
