Not condoning it in any way but I can understand the subs feelings. Try to put up with a couple of 10 year olds let alone 25-30 of the little snowflake brats who have never been told NO let alone felt a paddle on their ass!

The US had one of the most highly regarded educational systems in the world, right up until they established the federal department of education.
It's been going down hill quickly ever since.
Kids used to graduate elementary school knowing more than most high school graduates now.
Hell, many of them can't even tell men from women.
I could be wrong of course, but this one feels to me like probably just a big over-reaction and an article title meant to get one.

Whether any real threat was made depends on the specific wording, and that's not included. This COULD be something like the sub getting a little pissed off and saying something like "Oh, I could just strangle you little shits !"
I'm not saying it's appropriate, but that's not an actual threat. It could however be written up that way if somebody's looking to make a big deal out of a thing.
"Her grandson is one of several students claiming the individual cursed at them and made racially insensitive comments."
The racial part could be bad, but again it's non-specific here. The term 'racially insensitive comments' can be used pretty broadly these days, and context is again very important.
Or, maybe this person really was terrible.. I dunno. I'm just not willing to buy clickbait headlines without very specific details; not in this world where everyone wants to make a big issue of everything and will put things in whatever way makes that happen.

yeah, this doesn't sound like a direct threat.
It does sound like someone who does not have the mental/emotional maturity needed to be a teacher of children. She should consider teaching college, or getting another job. Dud missile retriever sounds like a good one, and will let her get plenty of fresh air.

If I would have come home from school and told my mom that the teacher threatened to kill the class, she would have asked me what I did and I'd be in trouble for pissing the teacher off.

You see, back in the day, that's how it would work. Cause you knew you could trust the teacher that they were just annoyed and not even remotely going to do such heinous acts.
Nowadays, well... you have no idea.
When I was in grade school if you got caught with a pocket knife, you'd give it to the teacher, and they'd hold on to it until the end of the day. When you were done for the day, the teacher would give it back with a warning and you'd be on your way. When I was a senior in high school, because a few friends and I worked for the school after school, we had pocket knives just clipped to our pants. No one cared and even a few times the teachers/staff would ask to borrow mine to open boxes or what not.
Nowadays, you'd have a SWAT team called, an entire school day disrupted, and then legal actions for the parents.
